Rogers’ agenda burdens Michigan families with thousands in additional costs while giving tax breaks to millionaires like himself
LANSING — On Wednesday, August 20th, the Michigan Democratic Party held a press call featuring MDP Chair Curtis Hertel, State Senator Stephanie Chang, State Representative Jasper Martus, and advocates, slamming failed GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers for pushing a toxic agenda that spikes the cost of living for everyday Michiganders while cutting taxes for millionaires like himself. “Mike Rogers’ toxic agenda drains our wallets to help his billionaire friends. It’ll spike the cost of everything from electricity, to gas, to groceries,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel. “Mike Rogers doesn’t understand this reality, or worse – he doesn’t care.”
“From health insurance premiums to groceries, the rising costs that Michiganders are facing are life-changing financial pressures that crush family budgets and limit opportunity. Mike Rogers has had every opportunity to stand up for Michigan families and he’s abandoned us every time, no matter the cost to our state,” said State Senator Stephanie Chang. “Our state needs real solutions to lower costs, not Mike Rogers’ failed agenda that takes money out of our pockets.”
“Mike Rogers’ policies hurt young Michiganders. They’re raising the cost of living, hurting our job prospects, and putting the American dream further out of reach,” said State Representative Jasper Martus. “Young people have defeated his toxic agenda before, and we’ll do it again. Because unlike Mike Rogers, we’re actually invested in Michigan’s future.”
“Mike Rogers’ cost-hike agenda is a direct attack on families like mine,” said Grand Rapids resident Amber Perry. “I can’t even imagine how much worse this will get because of the Medicaid cuts that Mike Rogers supports. While costs keep increasing, I’m terrified about what this means for my family’s financial security.”
