The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes regarding the president’s visit to Michigan.
“Yesterday Michiganders heard directly from Joe Biden, a real leader with a real plan to create more jobs and protect our manufacturing industry. Joe Biden has been a friend of labor for decades and understands how the current president’s trade policies have hurt Michigan. He knows we have to make it in Michigan, make it in America, and in doing so we will be investing in our communities and workers.
Unfortunately, today we will hear from a failed leader who has never put Michigan workers first. He has continued to showboat his way across this country, making promises he has no intention of keeping, and in fact, has made a career out of breaking. His record speaks for itself. Under his ‘leadership’ Michigan has lost 57,000 manufacturing jobs. He is wrong for Michigan and he is wrong for America.
In 54 days, Michiganders will send a clear message to the president. His time is up and we are ready for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, leaders who will prioritize our health and safety and put Michigan workers first.”
