The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes regarding this recent news story with Speaker Wentworth.
“Speaker Wentworth’s commentary on his refusal to work with Governor Whitmer is disgraceful. His lack of understanding of how federal dollars work and what they would do for Michigan families is simply embarrassing. He is fighting against money to vaccinate our seniors and teachers, get our kids back to school safely, support small businesses, fix our roads, and extend unemployment benefits. And in typical Republican form he attacks the Governor, criticizes her bold leadership, and then calls on her to make a commitment to unity. This is the hypocrisy that we continue to see out of the MIGOP. Michiganders would be better served by a leader that is truly willing to work across the aisle for the good of everyone, instead of spending his time starting political fights in the press.”
