Michigan Democratic Party Statement on Mike Pence’s Announced Oakland County Rally

The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of spokesman Christian Slater on Mike Pence’s Oakland County rally:

“Yet again, Mike Pence is coming to Michigan to spin lies about Donald Trump’s failed record, but Oakland County knows this president has been a disaster for our state. No matter how many rallies he holds, Pence can’t hide from his administration’s failed COVID-19 response that has left over 7,000 Michiganders dead, sent unemployment soaring, and forced countless small businesses to shutter their doors. Oakland County is fired up and voters are excited to make their voices heard, voting absentee and early in-person to reject Donald Trump and Mike Pence and elect Joe Biden, Gary Peters, and Democrats up and down the ballot.”

Women in Oakland County have led Michigan’s fight against Donald Trump’s erratic leadership and held him accountable for the crises he’s caused. READ MORE HERE:

Associated Press: ‘Our house is on fire’: Suburban women lead a Trump revolt in Michigan

Key Points:

  • For most of her life, until 2016, Lori Goldman had been politically apathetic. Now every moment she spends not trying to rid America of President Donald Trump feels like wasted time.
  • That energy has helped create the widest gender gap in recent history. It’s started to show up in early voting as women are casting their ballots earlier than men. In Michigan, women have cast nearly 56% of the early vote so far, and 68% of those were Democrats, according to the voting data firm L2.
  • That could mean trouble for Trump, not just in Oakland County but also in suburban battlegrounds outside Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Phoenix.
  • Goldman started her group, Fems for Dems, in early 2016 by sending an email to a few hundred friends that said she planned to help elect the first female president and asked if they’d like to join her. Four years later, their ranks have swelled to nearly 9,000.
