The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of spokesman Christian Slater on Sonny Perdue’s Michigan event today:
“Donald Trump and his administration have devastated Michigan farmers, breaking promise after promise while launching erratic trade wars that threaten their livelihoods. Donald Trump tells farmers they’re “over the hump” and Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue mocks farmers as “whiners” as farmers’ incomes and take home pay plummet due to the administration’s failed policies. Now, as a public health crisis decimates our economy and China refuses to follow through on Trump’s trade deal, Sonny Perdue is back in our state with more empty words. We need a president like Joe Biden who will support our farmers and truly invest in rural Michigan.”
