LANSING– The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes on the 100,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19:
“Americans have lost over 100,000 friends and family members to COVID-19. The Michigan Democratic Party family has lost dedicated activists and leaders who played an integral role in building the organization we have today. Their passion, dedication, and the joy they brought to the movement they believed in will be greatly missed.
“If we had leadership in the White House who acted when warned in January, we could have avoided this horrific threshold. Instead, our country is muddling through a once-in-a-generation pandemic with a president in Donald Trump who is more interested in his latest Twitter feud than saving the lives of countless Americans. We are experiencing untold tragedy that cannot be undone, but we also have a choice for how we will address this crisis moving forward. This November, we can elect a leader in Joe Biden who will rise to the historic challenges we face, unite rather than divide, and bring about a brighter future for our country.”
