MDP Praises Selection of Milwaukee As Host Site for 2020 Democratic National Convention

LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement on behalf of MDP Chair Lavora Barnes in response to the Democratic National Committee’s announcement today that Milwaukee, WI, will host the Democratic National Convention on July 13–16, 2020:

“The Democratic Party is the party of working people. Here in Michigan, we know what that means, and like Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, and the rest of our hardworking state, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a city of working people from all backgrounds and walks of life that has a history of stepping up to the challenge and a reputation for punching above its weight. Michigan, Wisconsin, and Democrats throughout the Midwest demonstrated in 2018 that when we fight for working people, we win. We cannot wait to see that energy on display next summer in Milwaukee because Democrats here are just getting started while Donald Trump and his politics of division are coming to an end.”

For updates, as they become available, the DNC is encouraging people to register here.
