LANSING — Today, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel issued the following statement regarding the case involving the stalled bills in the Michigan Legislature as it is heard by the Michigan Supreme Court:
“Everyone in Michigan is obligated to follow the Michigan Constitution — especially those who swear an oath to it, like the Speaker of the House. Matt Hall and Michigan Republicans have refused to follow the law and transmit these bills, which have already passed the state legislature and would improve the healthcare, pensions, and well-being of thousands of Michigan families. Stalling these bills threatens the rule of law and harms workers. At a time of constant political chaos, elected officials should look to our founding documents for guidance, not attempt to destroy them.”
