MDP Launches New Digital Ad Campaign Highlighting Year Anniversary Since John James Attempted to Erase His Extreme Record

Today, the Michigan Democratic Party announced a new digital ad campaign ahead of the one year anniversary of the revelations that failed politician John James attempted to erase his extreme, out of touch record – and as James goes up on the airwaves with his second ad in an attempt to reboot his flailing campaign after hundreds of days of hiding. The MDP’s digital ad, titled “Real John James,” features clips of James voicing support for several of his most destructive policy positions which he’s spent the past year trying to hide. The ad campaign is a four figure digital ad buy and will target voters statewide.

After losing his first bid for the U.S. Senate, James was caught deleting hundreds of social media posts expressing support for policies that would hurt Michigan families. James has been in hiding from Michiganders and refused to answer questions from MI TV for the first 11 months of his campaign. It’s still been over 230 days since James has answered a question from MI print media.

James’ erased videos reveal his true positions, including supporting President Trump’s agenda “2000%” and vowing to repeal the health care law which protects 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions.

“John James has spent the past year hiding from Michiganders and trying to paper over his extreme views. But James can’t erase the fact that his far right agenda of standing with Trump 2,000% and promising to take away Michiganders’ health care is out of step with Michigan’s working families,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Michigan voters already rejected James and his toxic platform once, and they will again in November.”
