LANSING – The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes following Mike Detmer’s comments urging Republicans to “lock and load” and “show up armed” at polling places:
“Mike Detmer is actively encouraging people to threaten voters and the poll workers who make our elections secure. Detmer’s comments are yet another sign that some Republicans will go to extreme lengths to undermine our elections, including breaking the law. Voter intimidation is a serious crime with substantial legal consequences. The Republican Party must immediately condemn Detmer’s comments and all attempts to undermine the integrity and security of our elections.”
