LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement today on behalf of MDP Chair Lavora Barnes regarding Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s efforts along with Michigan legislators to crack down on payroll fraud:
“Michigan is being robbed of critical funding that could be used for roads, clean water, and education, and for too long, payroll fraud has served as a way for exploitative companies to rob and cheat workers and taxpayers on a massive scale. This effort to crack down on employers that cheat workers and rob millions of dollars from our state is another example of Attorney General Dana Nessel and Democratic legislators taking the fight to those who would harm our state and the hardworking people that make it great.”
