Lays Out Plans to Build Unprecedented Ground Game in 2020
LANSING–Today, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes held a conference call reviewing Democratic victories in Michigan and across the nation, and laid out the party’s continued plans to build a grassroots organization ready to win in 2020.
On the call, Chair Barnes cited wins in Virginia, Kentucky, and communities throughout Michigan as evidence that voters are rejecting Donald Trump’s broken promises and embracing the Democratic Party’s vision for the future. She also highlighted MDP’s investments in Project 83 and the One Campaign as critical to recent successes while laying out the party’s plans to continuously invest in a field organization dedicated to turning Michigan blue up and down the ballot in 2020.
“Throughout the nation, we saw major gains for Democrats up and down the ballot, in blue and red parts of the country,” said MDP Chair Lavora Barnes. “And here in Michigan, we had strong showings with victories coming from Westland, Livonia Troy, Farmington Hills, Marquette and everywhere in between. But we’re not stopping with 2019. We’re continuing our Project 83 campaign to engage voters in all 83 Michigan counties while also building up a coordinated campaign that is making unprecedented strides in creating a grassroots organization for our eventual presidential nominee.
“The message with these elections is clear: our voters are fired up and we’re channeling that passion into action. The Republican brand is toxic. With the strength of our organization and the investments we’ll continue to make, I’m confident Michigan will be going blue again in 2020.”
