ICYMI: Michigan Dems Host People’s Town Hall with Sen. Slotkin and Rep. McDonald Rivet

While Republicans are hiding from their constituents, Michigan Democrats are holding town halls across the state to hear from working Michiganders

LANSING — In case you missed it, Michigan Democrats, with Senator Elissa Slotkin and Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet, held another People’s Town Hall in Lansing to listen to fellow Michiganders. Far too many Michiganders are being ignored by Congressional Republicans, so Michigan Democrats are stepping up to listen and hear how the Trump administration is impacting constituents.

With hundreds of Michiganders in person and online last Friday, Democrats highlighted how our families, neighbors, and communities will be devastated by Republicans’ billionaire-first budget bill. From Medicaid cuts to SNAP benefits, working Michigan families will bear the burden of this reckless, irresponsible bill — all so Republicans can hand out another tax break to billionaires.

Sen. Slotkin, Congresswoman McDonald Rivet, and Chair Curtis Hertel outlined exactly how dangerous Trump’s budget is while reminding them of the Michigan Republicans who have made it all possible.

The Gander: Slotkin blasts Trump’s plan to strip Americans of their healthcare at packed town hall in Lansing

  • Hundreds of Michiganders packed into the gym at Everett High School on Friday evening to hear from their elected representatives and help send a message to Republican lawmakers in Washington: Stop cutting health care so billionaires can get a tax break…
  • “This bill means that everyone in this room and everyone watching is either at risk of losing their health care or paying more for their health care. Period,” Slotkin told the crowd. “[Trump] is trying to do a thousand cuts in his second term, and he needs to pay for that.”
