ICYMI: Dems Deliver Before July 4th While Republicans Take Extreme Votes

Heading into the holiday weekend, the contrast between the parties couldn’t be more clear

LANSING — Before you sign off and head to a BBQ to celebrate the 4th of July holiday, we just wanted to remind you what Democrats in the state legislature accomplished this week before heading home for recess.

The contrast with the MI GOP couldn’t be more clear. While Democrats passed legislation to ban the abusive practice of conversion therapy, took votes sending a child marriage ban to the Governor’s desk, and moved through a historic budget package –  Michigan Republicans have voted against all of them

  • 15 votes against banning conversion therapy
  • 5 votes against banning child marriage
  • 57 votes against the landmark Make it in Michigan budget
  • 58 votes against the education budget provides historic funding for schools and educators

And just a reminder in recent days, Democrats also introduced legislation to expand access and protection for elections and are pushing to repeal strict limits on environmental protections.

On this 4th of July, we are reminded that Democrats are fighting for all Michiganders, while Republicans are hellbent on attacking our most fundamental freedoms.
