Since Biden’s passing of the torch, Michigan Dems have facilitated a seamless transition on the ground
LANSING — In case you missed it, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes was on the NPR program 1A yesterday, where she talked about Michigan Dems’ enthusiasm for the Harris campaign. In just the past few days, questions from voters have flooded in, asking to volunteer, knock doors, make phone calls, and help the campaign however they can. Already, Michigan Dems have been in all 83 counties of Michigan, reaching out to voters and organizing since 2016 — and we aren’t skipping a beat.
We have built a strong ground game for this campaign, and now we are ready and fired up to turn out this November and deliver Michigan for Vice President Kamala Harris. Every day from now until the election, we are dedicated to telling voters the story of who the Vice President is against who Trump and his MAGA minion J.D. Vance are. This election is about who we want as our leader — someone who has served her community day in and day out or a man who has only ever worked to help himself.
We are confident that as we continue to get out this message to voters, they will show up this November and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

NPR — 1A: What Kamala Harris means for Democrats’ chances in swing states
- “I have to tell you, we’re fired up about Vice President Harris stepping up…”
- “My friend, my phone, my inbox have blown up with people who have reached out to ask how they can help, how do they volunteer, how do they donate, how do they go to the convention so they can watch this historic moment….it’s been a lot to take in, we’ve been very very busy but the excitement is large…”
- “I am always confident in our team, we have built a strong state party here in Michigan, we have a strong ground game, we’ve been on the doors and on the phones and working hard for years…so we were ready to do the work and we still are ready to do the work…”
- “We go to their doors, we call them on their phones, we send them text messages, we show up on their social media — anywhere we can find a voter here in Michigan we’re gonna talk to them and we’re gonna tell them the story of who Kamala Harris is and who Democrats are….and of course the reality of who Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are…”
- “We have to be very clear with them about who Donald Trump is and what a threat to all of our communities he is…”
- “I believe when people get to know her and who she is and what she stands for and what she will fight for, they will come and they will show up in November and they will vote for President Harris…”
- “We have an 83-county strategy in Michigan, the 83 countries here in Michigan and we work in each and every one of them. We believe that there are, and we know, that there are Democrats in each and every one of these countries and we believe it’s our job to go find each and every one of them, whether they’re in the UP of Michigan, on the West Side of Michigan, or in Detroit, we’re gonna find them, we’re gonna turn then out, and we’re gonna have them vote.”
