ICYMI: Biden’s Infrastructure Law is Driving News in Michigan

It’s been a month since President Biden’s infrastructure plan was signed into law and Michiganders in every corner are continuing to read about how it’s going to be a game changer for public transportation, repairing roads and highways, and bringing clean drinking water to every household.

Despite 71% of Michiganders supporting the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, six Republicans decided to put political games over their communities and voted against these historic investments. Still, thanks to President Biden, Michigan Democrats in Congress, and Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan will see incredible investments in the transit infrastructure they use everyday.

FOX Mid-Michigan: Michigan to receive $1 Billion from Infrastructure Law

“‘The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, supported by Congressman Kildee, includes $1 billion for Michigan over the next five years to improve public transportation. 

This is in addition to federal funding to help repair roads, replace bridges, remove lead pipes and expand high-speed broadband internet across Michigan.’”

“Included in the new Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is a first-ever program to ‘reconnect communities adversely impacted by infrastructure designs like I-375 that erected barriers to mobility and opportunity and disproportionately affected communities of color,’ Whitmer wrote in a recent press release.”

9&10 News: Michigan Airports to Receive $72.8 Million from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law 

“‘The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has given us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build safer and more sustainable airports that connect individuals to jobs and communities to the world,’ said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a statement. ‘With this new funding, urban, regional and rural airports across the country now can get to work on projects that have waited for years, modernizing their infrastructure and building a better America.’”
