After hosting 30+ Virtual Organizing Events with speakers such as Lt Gov. Garlin Gilchrist and Senators Stabenow and Peters to train volunteers last week, the Weekend of Action produced:
- Over 500,000 voter contact and volunteer recruitment calls
- Over 2,000 volunteer shifts completed
- Over 1,500 volunteers and over 550 first time phone bankers
- 2,000 new shifts recruited
“Folks are fired up and excited for change. They’re making sure their voice is heard this election,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes. “We started organizing for this campaign in 2017, mobilizing volunteers and speaking to voters on the ground and we haven’t stopped working since. We built something here that is unprecedented. Voter turnout will be huge, we will defeat Donald Trump in November and send Joe Biden to the White House, Gary Peters to the Senate, and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.”
