Despite the fact that the right to choose hangs in the balance more than ever before, all six Republicans running for governor have once again shown that they will work to strip rights away from millions of Michigan women and families.
Meanwhile, Governor Whitmer – who has unapologetically described herself as a “pro-choice governor” – has already taken the historic step to file a lawsuit seeking for the Michigan Supreme Court to ensure that Michigan does not revert to the dangerous ban overnight should Roe v. Wade be overturned.
Previously, anti-choice extremists Tudor Dixon, Garrett Soldano, and Kevin Rinke quickly doubled down on their dangerous, anti-choice agendas, panning Whitmer’s efforts to ensure Michiganders wouldn’t suffer the dangerous outcome of the 1931 ban that makes abortion a felony being reinstated as law:
- Tudor Dixon: Attacked Governor Whitmer’s lawsuit to protect Michiganders and doubled down on her position that abortion should be outlawed without exceptions, even when the woman’s health is at risk.
- Garrett Soldano: Stood against Governor Whitmer’s historic move to protect the right to choose in Michigan as “ignoring the legislature.”
- Kevin Rinke: Criticized Governor Whitmer’s lawsuit to ensure Michigan’s dangerous 1931 ban never goes back into effect by calling it a “radical power play” and called the 1931 ban – which does not include exceptions for rape or incest – “appropriate.”
