GM’s Latest Investment Is Proof of Whitmer Delivering for Michigan and the Biden Boom

Governor Whitmer and President Biden are leaders in job creation – and the proof is in the numbers. Just last week, thanks to Governor Whitmer, General Motors announced a historic $7 billion investment into Michigan manufacturing plants, ensuring the state is at the forefront of technology and innovation. Combined with President Biden’s push for electric vehicles in his Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which will provide $110 million to support the expansion of a charging system within the state, EV manufacturing will create thousands of jobs for Michiganders over the next decade and keep Michigan a leader in the industry.

“The future of the auto industry is electric. President Biden said it when he signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law investing billions in EV infrastructure, and now General Motors is charging into the future by investing billions of dollars into Michigan’s economy — creating good-paying, union jobs, tackling the climate crisis, and putting Michiganders at the forefront of technology and innovation,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes. “Without Governor Whitmer at the helm, this simply wouldn’t have happened. She’s worked tirelessly to make sure companies like GM know that towns like Orion Township, Lansing, and others across Michigan are worth building in and building up. With a jobs president like Biden and a jobs governor like Whitmer, Democrats are delivering for the Great Lakes State – and voters know it.”

As more companies invest in the Great Lakes State, Michigan will continue to gain back jobs lost before the pandemic. This is a result of innovation, initiative, and a solid plan, something the GOP doesn’t have. In the next few years, more Michiganders will be employed with good-paying, union jobs – and that’s entirely thanks to Democrats.
