The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of spokesman Christian Slater on Donald Trump sending former fossil fuel lobbyist David Bernhardt to Michigan to distract from his failed environmental record:
“This event by former fossil fuel lobbyist David Bernhardt is nothing more than an attempt to distract from Donald Trump’s attacks on Michigan’s clean air and water and the DNC Convention that is highlighting his disastrous record. While Secretary Bernhardt may come to our state with lip service and empty promises, Michigan voters know Trump has rolled back critical EPA regulations, fought to slash funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and shown nothing but callous disregard for keeping our environment clean. This November, Michiganders will support Joe Biden and Gary Peters, who have a record of standing up to the fossil fuel industry, will fight for green energy investments and protect our Great Lakes.”
