Former AARP President Eric Schneidewind Blasts Trump’s Health Care Broken Promises on ACA Anniversary

LANSING– Today, the Michigan Democratic Party released a digital video highlighting Donald Trump’s attacks on the Affordable Care Act on the 10th anniversary of President Barack Obama signing the bill into law.

The video features former AARP president Eric Schneidewind blasting Donald Trump for his attacks on the Affordable Care Act and his continued work to strip health care from millions during a pandemic. While Donald Trump once promised Michigan voters his health care plan was “going to be terrific and a lot less expensive and much better coverage,” he has failed to produce a plan, instead fighting to strip coverage through Congress and a lawsuit before the Supreme Court.

“The ACA is under assault from Donald Trump and his administration,” said Eric Schneidewind. “As we speak, in the middle of a public health crisis, Donald Trump is fighting in the Supreme Court to have the ACA struck down and strip health insurance from millions, end protections for pre-existing conditions and slash Medicaid funding. Now more than ever, we can’t afford Trump’s attacks on the ACA.”
