LANSING– Three years ago today, in the midst of Donald Trump’s initial attacks on the Affordable Care Act, the Congressional Budget Office released a devastating report on the effects of Trump’s broken promise.
The report found 24 million Americans at risk of losing health insurance if Trump succeeded in repealing the law, despite his past promise to Michiganders’ to make health care “a lot less expensive and much better coverage.” Since his first, unsuccessful attempt at stripping health care from millions, Trump has continued his unrelenting assault, most recently proposing a budget that would slash billions from Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security Disability Insurance while fighting to repeal the Affordable Care Act in the Supreme Court.
“One of Donald Trump’s first acts in office was launching a war on health care, fighting to strip it from 24 million Americans, and he hasn’t stopped since,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “Michigan voters have seen Donald Trump break promise after promise and will hold him accountable for his assault on health care this November.”
