Lavora Barnes, chair of the Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of the ridiculous, short-sighted tax plan agreed upon by the Republican led Michigan House and Senate
“This is nothing more than an irresponsible election-year stunt from Republican lawmakers. The Republican retirement tax has cost countless Michigan families thousands of dollars per year for over a decade. Now, rather than helping Michiganders who need it most, Republicans want to give thousands of dollars to their wealthy friends. On the other hand, Democrats like Governor Gretchen Whitmer want to end the Republican retirement tax and support workers and seniors.”
