Just a couple of months before the Michigan Supreme Court released their ruling that held that “discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation necessarily constitutes discrimination “because of sex” under the Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act,” dangerous, special interest-backed candidate Tudor Dixon said she was against protecting LGBTQ Michiganders from discrimination under ELCRA.
When asked during a May GOP primary debate “Would you sign legislation to expand the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to include the LGBTQ community?” if it was brought forward by the legislature, she gave a simple “no”with zero explanation.
Instead of putting politics aside to protect a community against prejudicial treatment, Dixon fell in line with the rest of the out of touch GOP candidates for governor. For her, when it comes to working on behalf of Michiganders, that doesn’t include LGBTQ Michiganders.
This isn’t too surprising since she spent her time on Real America Voice ranting against people who identify as transgender and has centered much of her campaign around an “openly hostile” agenda against “the rights of LGBTQ+ people.”
