Mike Rogers on gas prices: “We’re gonna be fine, we got plenty of oil.”
LANSING — Gas prices are surging again as multi-millionaire Florida resident Mike Rogers continues facing backlash for “downplay[ing] the impact of the Iran war on gas prices.” Rogers was recently caught on tape dismissing a Michigander at a campaign event who was worried about paying more at the gas pump, saying “We’re gonna be fine, we got plenty of oil.”
Despite Rogers’ insistence that working people would be ‘fine,’ the average gas price in Michigan surged back to $4 a gallon today, with GasBuddy analysts warning prices could soon rise to $4.19 a gallon, forcing Michiganders to pay even more at the pump.
In response, Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Joey Hannum released the following statement:
“Multi-millionaire Mike Rogers has made it abundantly clear he doesn’t care that Michiganders are being forced to pay even more at the gas pump. They’ll remember that Rogers dismissed their pain while they’re paying $4 a gallon for gas, that he falsely claims working people aren’t paying more, and that he wants to make families pay more out-of-pocket for health care when they reject Price Hike Mike at the ballot box this November.”
