The “none of the above” option got more votes than James…
LANSING — Flailing Republican “candidate” John James only received two votes in a stunning new post-debate straw poll conducted by the Leelanau County Republican Party—with James even losing to the “none of the above” option, which got five votes. It’s the latest sign of a chaotic and messy primary that is “up for grabs.”

The brutal and embarrassing result comes after James skipped last night’s debate and his absence from the campaign trail has become a “central topic.”
James also came in a distant fourth place in the straw poll that took place during the Michigan GOP’s Mackinac Island conference, and he lost another straw poll conducted by the Michigan 9th Congressional District Republicans in September.
James has “split” the Michigan Republican Party and he’s drawn the ire of prominent Michigan Republicans as his campaign has been described as “adrift,” “sloppy,” and “inexperienced.” James has also refused to answer for his extreme votes to cut health care and jack up costs for Michiganders.
“This is utterly embarrassing for John James. He placed in a distant ninth place and couldn’t even beat the ‘none of the above’ option,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Derrick Honeyman. “The Republican primary for governor is a fractured and wide-open mess.”
