Battleground Democrats Lay Groundwork to Defeat Trump in 2020

LANSING — Beginning today, March 14, 2019, seven Democratic state parties, all located in presidential battlegrounds, including Michigan, will work together to lay the groundwork to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.

In addition to the Michigan Democratic Party, state parties in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, are joining forces to focus on strengthening grassroots infrastructure, building partnerships with progressive allies, recruiting more volunteers, and registering voters ahead of the 2020 election.

Most political observers agree that the presidential contest will come down to these seven swing states, and Democrats are not taking anything for granted when it comes to defeating Donald Trump and his politics of division.

“The Michigan Democratic Party is proud to partner with our friends from Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin,” said Lavora Barnes, Michigan Democratic Party Chair. “This effort will not only strengthen our respective abilities to defeat Trump in 2020 but it will allow us to get an early start on laying the groundwork to elect Democrats up and down the ballot throughout Michigan and across the country.”
