As Refund Checks From Bipartisan Auto Insurance Reform Begins to Hit Mailboxes, Kevin Rinke Continues to Oppose Savings For Michigan Drivers

This week, Michigan drivers will begin receiving  $400 refund checks for each vehicle they own – one of several boons to working families that out-of-touch millionaire and Toyota salesman Kevin Rinke has stood against since joining the crowded and messy Republican primary for governor.

Rinke described the reform as a “fatal mistake” and said he would have vetoed it had he been governor instead.

Governor Whitmer worked across the aisle to put Michigan first, signing the “historic” bipartisan deal that is already delivering savings for drivers. Even Republican leaders like Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey praised Whitmer specifically for delivering this massive cost-saving reform, “saying that the deal couldn’t have gotten done without her.”

MDP spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite issued the following statement:

“The out-of-touch proof points keep piling up for millionaire Kevin Rinke who just can’t stop opposing major wins for Michigan’s economy and working families. Governor Whitmer worked across the aisle to reform auto insurance and secure $400 checks for every Michigan driver. That’s the leadership Michiganders deserve, not whatever backwards agenda Toyota salesman Rinke is selling that doesn’t cut costs.”
