The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes.
“The Republican-led legislature’s continued denial of Governor Whitmer’s appointments to State Boards and Commissions is simply a political stunt meant to slow down the functions of state government, while punishing the Governor for her life-saving efforts during the global pandemic. Governor Whitmer has made a good faith effort to work cooperatively with the House and Senate, while the GOP leaders have refused to do the same and have instead turned to political antics and games that are a waste of time and taxpayer dollars. Once again, Mike Shirkey and his Republican lackeys have chosen to be on the wrong side of history by denying the realities of COVID-19 while attempting to grandstand against the Governor.”
