LANSING — Recently it was announced that Meshawn Maddock will serve as co-chair to the Michigan Republican Party alongside former GOP chair Ron Weiser. Maddock was one of the presidential electors nominated by the Michigan Republican Party but unable to cast the state’s Electoral College votes for Trump after he lost Michigan.
Maddock’s husband is Rep. Matt Maddock, R-Milford who was among the 15 Republican state lawmakers in the House who signed a letter to the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to join the lawsuit brought by the Texas Attorney General to overturn the election in Michigan and other battleground states.
The Maddocks were in DC yesterday, to take part in the attack on the capitol ordered by Trump. Meshawn Maddock shared on social media that this was “the most incredible crowd and sea of people I’ve ever walked with.”
“Not once yesterday did Ms. Maddock condemn the horrific violence that unfolded at our U.S. Capitol,” said Christy Jensen, Executive Director of the Michigan Democratic Party. “She had plenty of opportunities throughout the day to use her voice and platform to speak out against the egregious actions of the domestic terrorists that stormed the people’s house. Instead, she has gone silent. Chair Weiser should get ready to spend a lot of time apologizing to the people of Michigan for the conduct of his new co-chair, whose opinions and actions are not informed by facts or the truth.”
