The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of spokesman Christian Slater on Donald Trump’s partisan attacks on funding for Michigan’s National Guard and threatening the state’s COVID-19 response:
“As Donald Trump comes to Michigan to lie about his failed COVID-19 response, he is sabotaging and undermining leaders like Governor Whitmer working to save lives and keep our state safe. While Republican-run states like Florida, Arizona, and Texas get the funding they requested, Trump has refused to fully fund Michigan’s National Guard that are on the frontlines of the emergency response. This is a despicable, partisan attack from a failed president who has lied about COVID-19 and downplayed the public health crisis he failed to contain with deadly consequences for 6,569 Michiganders.”
