Over 1 Million Votes Cast in Democratic Primaries
The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes on the over 1 million Michiganders who voted in Democratic primaries yesterday, setting a record for August primaries.
The record setting turnout comes after Michigan Democrats also set a turnout record in the March presidential primary.
“Yet again, Michigan Democrats have broken a turnout record in a clear signal that voters in this state are fired up and ready to reject Donald Trump’s failed leadership, send Joe Biden to the White House and Gary Peters back to the Senate, and elect Democrats up and down the ticket. I am so proud of the hard-working Democratic candidates across the state and our One Campaign organizers who have spent years building an organizing machine that’s ready to get out the vote. With 90 days left until the most important election of our lifetimes, I know we can turn every corner of Michigan blue this November.”
