In a new Medium post, Detroit worker and labor leader Jeannette Bradshaw blasts Trump’s failures to invest in clean energy and highlights the potential for Michigan to lead the green energy economy.
In the post, Bradshaw hits Trump’s “war on clean energy” and discusses the administration’s fight to slash critical green energy investments, including cuts to federal support for the research, development and deployment of clean energy technologies, and their attacks on federal investment in EV battery technology. She also points to work being done in Michigan that demonstrates the potential for the green energy economy.
“To build a better future for our children and mitigate the worst damages of climate change, we know that we must transition to a 100% clean energy economy,” said Metro Detroit AFL-CIO Secretary/Treasurer Jeannette Bradshaw. “That transition represents an opportunity for our country to invest in workers and make Michigan a leader in green energy. Unfortunately, President Donald Trump has failed us. Instead of betting on Michigan workers, he has launched an all-out attack on our environment – costing us jobs in the process. Throughout Michigan we see the obvious signs that investing in clean energy jobs is the best path forward and that President Trump is standing in the way of progress. Trump’s war on the environment has not only increased air and water pollution and exacerbated the ever-present threat of climate change, but it has also hurt our workers. We must embrace the transition to a green energy economy to save our planet and create the high-paying, union jobs Michigan families have relied on for decades.”
