LANSING– A new report highlights how Trump’s broken promises on the environment have taken their toll on the Great Lakes, which Trump promised to protect while campaigning in Michigan in 2016.
The report found Trump’s attacks on the EPA have decimated enforcement of environmental regulation even as water pollution in the Great Lakes region spikes. The news comes as Trump has continued his relentless war on the environment amidst a global pandemic that he has failed to adequately address with his erratic leadership.
“Even in the midst of a global pandemic, Donald Trump continues to break his promises on the environment and Michigan is paying the price,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “As COVID-19 continues to take its toll, Trump and his attacks on the EPA have only made Michiganders more vulnerable to the deadly disease.”
