LANSING– A new report highlights how Donald Trump ignored early warnings about COVID-19 from a top advisor that began as early as January.
Following the warnings, which stated the virus could “imperil the lives of millions of Americans,” Trump proceeded to call the virus a “Democratic hoax” and repeatedly downplayed the potential consequences. Now, as the virus spreads, Trump has been caught unprepared, only just beginning to order critical PPE in mid-March after months of preparation time “wasted”.
“Donald Trump was caught unprepared for the COVID-19 crisis, but it wasn’t because he wasn’t warned time and again,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “This president has failed Michigan by ignoring warning after warning while he played political games with a global pandemic and executed a chaotic and incomplete response.”
