LANSING– A new report highlights the Trump administration’s move to block Michigan and other states from using Medicaid to address Covid-19.
As the pandemic spreads across the state, Donald Trump is refusing to issue a critical waiver allowing state government to more quickly get citizens insured, despite Governor Whitmer having declared a state of emergency. Trump’s refusal to fight the virus comes after he spent months playing political games while downplaying the serious effects of the virus and years fighting to slash funding for Medicaid.
“Donald Trump is refusing to allow state governments to clean up the mess he made, yet again playing political games with critical health care for Michigan families,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “This is just the latest attack in Trump’s years-long war on Medicaid, and one that puts millions of Michiganders at risk.”
