LANSING — Ahead of Donald Trump’s visit to Warren on Thursday, the Michigan Democratic Party is reminding voters about the broken promises Trump doesn’t want Michiganders to hear.
After launching his campaign on the promise that he would, “save Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security without cuts,” Trump has repeatedly threatened the critical programs. In the past week alone, Trump has indicated he will “take a look” at slashing Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and followed up by floating a plan to slash funding for Medicaid, a program that covers almost 1 in 5 Americans.
“It’s clear that despite promising to protect these vital programs, Donald Trump’s real agenda has always been to slash Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. His broken promises put him on the side of Congressional Republicans and their reckless agenda and against Michigan’s working families,” said MDP spokesman Christian Slater. “Donald Trump pays lip service to protecting workers, but Michigan voters know it’s yet another broken promise for a president who has shown a callous disregard for everyday people.”
