Matt Hall expands GOP Oversight Committee to waste hundreds of thousands playing politics and carrying out political persecutions
LANSING — Today, Matt Hall’s Oversight Committee and its six subcommittees announced their intentions to start weaponizing the government — wasting taxpayers’ hard-earned money in the process. At the end of the day, Matt Hall’s so-called accountability attempts are only going to bring progress in Lansing to a grinding halt. As a reminder of his hypocrisy when it comes to accountability and transparency, Hall and his caucus won’t commit to FOIA reform, preferring to leave Lansing in the dark.
“Matt Hall is plainly weaponizing his position as Speaker to attack and intimidate public servants who are doing their jobs to make life better for Michiganders,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “Hall and his Republican caucus are serving themselves and their political agenda, instead of the constituents who voted for them. Rather than come together with Democrats to get things done for Michigan, they are clearly positioning themselves to play partisan games. No matter what they try to pull, Michigan Dems will never give up on delivering for our communities.”
This comes at the same time as Matt Hall holds bills from the previous session hostage as he continues to play politics with Michiganders’ well-being. Luckily, Senate Democrats, led by Majority Leader Winnie Brinks, are holding him accountable to ensure he does the job that Michiganders elected him to do.
