Ahead of Trump’s speech, Chair Barnes reminds Michiganders that Trump’s only economic plan is to line his own pockets
LANSING — Today, Donald Trump will return to Detroit to try and sell his failed economic agenda to the Detroit Economic Club, just two days after J.D. Vance still wouldn’t commit to protecting Michigan jobs.
“Plain and simple, a second Donald Trump presidency would be a disaster for Michigan workers — his agenda will raise costs and kill jobs,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “When he was president, Trump gave tax cuts to the wealthy at the expense of Michigan’s working families, tanked our economy during the pandemic, and only helped the rich get richer.
“This time, he’s running on a Project 2025 economic agenda that will cost Michiganders nearly $4,000 every single year, and, no matter what lies he spews today, Michiganders know that his ‘concepts of a plan’ will only hurt them and their pocketbooks. For more jobs and a fairer economy, voters know that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are the champions we need to not just survive, but thrive, here in Michigan.”
