The Michigan Democratic Party is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Engagement Organizer to join our team. As an Engagement Organizer, you will be at the forefront of building relationships with communities across the state, mobilizing volunteers, and driving voter engagement efforts. This position is unionized, reports to a Regional Organizer, and is based in various locations across Michigan.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, activists, and local organizations to strengthen the party’s presence and influence in targeted communities.
- Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to participate in grassroots organizing activities, including voter registration, canvassing, phone banking, and community outreach events.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage underrepresented communities, including communities of color, young voters, and other marginalized groups.
- Collaborate with party leadership, campaign staff, and coalition partners to identify key issues, priorities, and opportunities for voter engagement and mobilization.
- Organize and lead community events, town halls, and other activities to educate voters, raise awareness about important issues, and mobilize support for Democratic candidates and causes.
- Utilize data management tools and voter databases to track volunteer activities, monitor progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of engagement strategies.
- Provide regular updates and reports on engagement activities, outcomes, and challenges to party leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in community organizing, political campaigns, or related fields preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Passion for social justice, progressive values, and the mission of the Michigan Democratic Party.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong commitment to meeting goals and deadlines.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and travel as needed within Michigan.
This is an hourly position starting at $17.34 per hour. Engagement Organizers will start out with a 55 hour work week with hours expected to increase at the start of general election early voting. This is a Union position. This position includes a full benefits package of health, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
