DNC Night One: Michigan Dems Chair Applauds Opening of Convention

CHICAGO — Tonight, President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Michigan’s own state Sen. Mallory McMorrow concluded the first day of the Democratic National Convention — making it clear that Democrats fight For the People. Following the President, First Lady, and Secretary Clinton’s speeches, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes released the following statement:

“Tonight’s speakers demonstrated that Democrats are fighting to build a country for the 99%, not the 1%. This campaign and this convention are focused on creating a fairer economy, protecting rights, and ensuring the future of our democracy so all Americans can not just survive, but thrive.

“The stage is set for the rest of the week as Democrats continue to show Michiganders and all Americans what we stand for and officially nominate Vice President Harris and Governor Walz later this week. Our delegates are thrilled to take part in this historic convention before we come together this November to reject Donald Trump and his MAGA agenda that threatens working Americans and their families.”
