Chair Barnes slams Trump’s attempt to disenfranchise Michigan voters with politically motivated lawsuit against Gov. Whitmer and Sec. Benson
LANSING — Yesterday, the Trump campaign filed a sham lawsuit to undermine the integrity of November’s election. This ridiculous suit claims that Governor Whitmer and Secretary of State Benson overstepped their authority in growing the state’s voter registration efforts.
“It’s unfortunately no surprise that Trump and the MAGA Republican Party are once again attacking our elections and planting distrust in our democratic systems – but this time, they are trying to make it harder for veterans and small business owners to register to vote,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “Governor Whitmer and Secretary Benson are all too familiar with being attacked by Trump and his MAGA cronies, but thankfully, they continue to work tirelessly to make our democracy more inclusive and more secure. In the face of this ongoing extremism, Michigan Democrats are standing strong against Trump and his allies’ attempts to chip away at the foundation of our democracy.”
