Dems lifted up President Biden this week, reminded voters of the dangers of Trump, and helped Michiganders in every aspect of their lives
LANSING — This week, Michigan Democrats were once again hard at work supporting President Biden and getting the job done here in Lansing. We continued to remind voters of the facts: Joe Biden has stood up for Michiganders time and time again on the issues that Michiganders care about. Michigan is fired up to send President Biden and Vice President Harris back to the White House, and we are so proud to have the president back in Detroit today to show the country that we will send Trump and his MAGA Republicans packing.
Stateside, Michigan Dems wrapped up a busy budget season to send billions of dollars into our communities, our schools, and our students — while some Michigan Republicans were busy being under investigation for sexual assault and weapons charges. Once again, Dems have delivered lower costs, investments in students, and a brighter future for Michiganders with this budget.

Michigan Democratic delegates and Detroit-area lawmakers emphasized their support for his candidacy and the threats to our democracy should Trump with this November. Between Project 2025 and Trump’s promises to gut the ACA, reproductive rights, and our democracy, it is more important than ever that we band together to beat Trump and his MAGA extremist candidates:
CNN: Democratic convention delegates say they’re loyal to Biden and balk at other options
- Though a few sought to cast Biden’s performance as an untimely aberration, most argued that, despite the angst they and so many others felt watching the president struggle, the tumult that’s followed is a distraction from the party’s unifying aim: To defeat former President Donald Trump in November and crush the most ambitious plans of his right-wing loyalists…
- Kevin Tolbert, a first-time delegate and district chair for the Michigan Democratic Party, described the debate as road bump in Biden’s path to reelection – an opinion he’s shared with doubters. “The message I’ve been saying to people is this is not the time for us to be caught into our feelings. This is not about who we love or an emotional response,” Tolbert said. “This is the time for us to be very cerebral and very intelligent and make sure we educate people over what’s occurring.”
Detroit News: 14 Detroit-area Democratic state lawmakers express ‘unwavering’ support for Biden
- The 14 lawmakers who issued the new letter are members of the Michigan Legislature’s Detroit Caucus, including House Speaker Joe Tate and others representing parts of Detroit, which has been a central focus of the Biden reelection campaign’s early efforts in Michigan…
- “The economic progress, health care expansion, and job creation we have seen under the leadership of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are too important to jeopardize.”
Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes echoed the delegates’ support for Joe Biden, reminding voters of all the historic accomplishments of the Biden-Harris administration over the past four years. Whether on lowering costs or fighting for our basic rights, President Biden has been our steadfast ally every single time, never balking from a fight:
ClickonDetroit: Michigan Democrats defend President Joe Biden amid reelection doubts
- ““I have full confidence in President Biden, and here in Michigan we aren’t worrying, we are doing the work to defeat Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans this November. The facts are clear, Joe Biden has spent his entire life serving this country while Trump has spent his entire life serving himself.
- The Biden-Harris Administration has taken on Big Pharma, stood with union workers, and made the largest federal investment in infrastructure in a generation – meanwhile Trump and his MAGA allies in state have laid out a clear plan to take control over Michiganders’ lives and drag us into the past. I am confident that Michigan will send Joe Biden and Kamala Harris back to the White House this November and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.” Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes
To highlight the risks of that MAGA extremism, Michigan Dems uplifted every Republican Senate candidate’s extensive anti-abortion record. When Roe was overturned, Mike Rogers, Sandy Pensler, and Justin Amash all celebrated the devastating loss of rights for millions of Michiganders. Each candidate is as extremist as the next, and we cannot let any of them anywhere near the Senate:
Here in Michigan, Democrats highlighted the landmark features of the budget that will grow Michigan’s economy and support students of all ages, from kindergarten all the way to their first two years of college. This budget is just another way that Democrats have delivered on their promise of ensuring that everyone can make it in Michigan:

WXYZ: New state budget includes free community college tuition for high school graduates
