LANSING — As in-person absentee voting begins today, 40 days ahead of the August primary, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes released the following statement:
“Participation in our democracy is fundamental to our values as Michiganders, and Democrats are proud to have expanded voting rights over the past several years to bring more people into the process and allow them to choose how they prefer to cast their ballot. Today, thousands of absentee ballots will be sent to voters who have requested one all across the state, and it’s a reminder of the power that our vote holds.
“As we head towards the August primary, we encourage everyone to make their voices heard and then come together in November and reject MAGA extremism at every level of the ballot.”
