LANSING — In case you missed it, at this week’s Mackinac Policy Conference, Governor Whitmer highlighted the upcoming policy goals to improve Michigan’s housing market and energy costs all while encouraging innovators to start here and stay here. Long story short, these goals will lower costs and strengthen the growing Michigan economy for tomorrow, next year, and the next hundred years.
On Wednesday, Governor Whitmer announced new plans to update Michigan’s housing and energy goals to guarantee the creation of tens of thousands of new affordable housing units — all while decreasing utility costs for Michigan families. With the prior goals already ahead of schedule, the new plan for 115,000 new units will help to guarantee all Michiganders and their families have safe, affordable places to live.
By Thursday, Democrats had set their sights towards entrepreneurship and innovation, as Governor Whitmer unveiled her plan to invest in culture, capital, and creativity while growing Michigan’s economy. These plans will help uplift burgeoning creators by giving them better access to capital, tools, and mentorship to lower the obstacles towards entrepreneurship.
Michigan Democrats’ dedication to delivering lower costs and a brighter future across the state was on full display at the conference — as was the MIGOP’s total failure to show up for their communities. The choice this November is clear: one party will continue to lower costs and support families and the other party is too busy with infighting to bother trying to help.
Democrats’ new goals will lower costs to incentivize more entrepreneurs to come to Michigan while at the same time lowering the obstacles for creators here to start their own businesses. With millions in funding to be invested in community members across the states, innovators will build legacies that will benefit Michigan for generations to come.
