Michigan Dems Chair Celebrates Dem Candidates Running in Every Congressional, State House District

Michigan Dems are contesting every race and taking every opportunity to fight for Michiganders

LANSING — This week, Democrats are proving their commitment to contesting Republicans at every level of the ballot, with candidates filing in every congressional district and 110 Democrats filing to run for the state House – one in every single House district in Michigan. This was part of a larger effort from the Michigan Democratic Party and Contest Every Race to ensure Republicans are getting challenged at every level of the ballot across the state in 2024.

“We aren’t kidding when we say it — Michigan Democrats aren’t taking any days off this cycle,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “We are committed to fighting for Michiganders across the state because this election is too important to cede an inch.

“Republicans from MAGA Matt Hall and his state House caucus to congressional Republicans in Washington have made their priority clear: march in lockstep with Trump’s extremist agenda. Democrats won’t let that agenda go uncontested at any level of the ballot. Michigan Democrats are fighting for the issues that matter most to our communities in every district in every corner of the state.”

This candidate recruitment partnership between Michigan Dems and Contest Every Race resulted in thousands of Democrats filing to run for office across the state, an effort that will drive up turnout for President Biden and Democrats up and down the ballot.
