LANSING — Republicans are adding Mike “Deep State” Rogers, Peter Meijer, James Craig, and Sandy Pensler to their burn book, whacking them for their past votes and being inaccessible to voters. Pensler said the quiet part out loud, criticizing his opponents for running solely because they’re bored and “screwed up.” Buckle up, we’re just getting started in the Michigan Senate Showdown.
Here’s the latest on the Republicans’ “caustic” intra-party fight:
- Michigan Republican Michael Farage put all his cards on the table, telling fellow Republicans that if they vote for Rogers, Meijer, Craig, or Pensler, “you have the kind of government you deserve.”
- Nikki Snyder slammed “deep state” politician Mike Rogers and his vote for the Patriot Act.
- Pensler took direct aim at Rogers and Meijer, saying “you shouldn’t be running for Senate because you screwed up” or because “you’re out, you don’t have anything to do.”
- Farage called out Meijer for canceling on the debate with less than 24 hours’ notice and his Trump impeachment vote, Rogers on his Patriot Act vote, and Pensler for being inaccessible to voters.
- Pensler blamed the country’s “moral decay” on his “professional politician” opponents in the race who are “doing it for a job.”
- Michael Hoover dissed Rogers, Meijer, Craig, and Pensler for not being accessible to voters, saying “I guess at some point in time, they’re going to have to come to the classroom.”

Michael Farage: “If you vote for any candidate that is not up here [Rogers, Meijer, Craig, and Pensler], you have the kind of government you deserve.”
Nikki Snyder: “We need to dismantle the deep state… The deep state is… candidates like those who didn’t show up tonight and voted for the Patriot Act. And they’re using it against you… Don’t vote for someone who’s going to continue to take away your freedom.”
Steve Gruber Show: Pensler: “You shouldn’t be running for Senate because you screwed up and you’re out and your business. You’re out, you don’t have anything to do.”
Michael Farage: “It probably was less than 24 hours… ago that Peter Meijer canceled… It wasn’t even him [that called]… We went to his event and he committed.”
Michael Farage: “There is another candidate who did not, Sandy Pensler, who was in the race but he makes himself very unaccessible. Getting access to him, it’s almost as if he’s the president.”
Steve Gruber Show: When asked about the country’s moral decay, Pensler responded, “…They are all, frankly, I think, an outcome of having politicians that are professional politicians. And frankly, a lot of the people that are running in this race, that are doing it for a job.”
Michigan’s Big Show: In response to Rogers, Meijer, Craig, and Pensler not showing up to the debate, Michael Hoover said “I guess at some point in time, they’re going to have to come to the classroom.”
