LANSING — Over the weekend, Donald Trump revived his push to repeal the Affordable Care Act which would rip away health care coverage and raise costs for working Michigan families. Both Mike Rogers and Peter Meijer support Trump’s disastrous call to rip away common-sense, cost-saving health care.
Here’s where Michigan Senate GOP candidates stand on revoking critical health care access:
- Mike Rogers voted against the Affordable Care Act during his time in Congress. In response to the 2012 Supreme Court ruling on the ACA, Rogers called the law “disastrous” saying “we must redouble our efforts to change leadership in the U.S. Senate and the White House to undo this burdensome Obama health care tax.”
- In 2020, Peter Meijer vowed to fully repeal the Affordable Care Act.
If the Affordable Care Act was repealed, 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions could be denied health care and 1.3 million Michiganders would be at risk of losing their coverage.

MLive: Meijer has signed a pledge from the conservative group, Campaign for Liberty, that stated he would “support legislation to fully repeal ObamaCare and oppose efforts to give the federal government more control of health care.”
