Michigan Dems slam Trump’s record on labor
LANSING – Today marks the seven-year anniversary of Donald Trump saying the United States wouldn’t lose any auto plants under his watch. Trump’s presidency was a disaster for labor and he abandoned the middle class here in Michigan at every turn.
On the heels of the historic tentative agreements between the UAW and the Big 3, Michiganders understand how important it is to have someone in the White House that truly supports all workers and our partners in labor.
“Seven years ago, Donald Trump looked Michiganders in the eye and told them that the country wouldn’t lose a single auto plant under his watch, but three years later, when General Motors shuttered doors on its Warren plant during his term, it was Michigan families who were left to pay the price of his broken promise,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “Trump tries to rewrite his record of handing out tax breaks to big corporations and creating incentives to ship jobs overseas, but workers aren’t fooled. In 2024, Michigan will help send Joe Biden — the most pro-worker, pro-union president in history — back to the White House once again, so he can continue building on the historic manufacturing boom he has delivered.”
