In response to MIGOP-Insider and DeVos sellout Tudor Dixon joining the rest of the crowded field in refusing to disclose her 2021 tax returns, MDP is reminding Michiganders that this is only the latest issue gubernatorial Republicans are refusing transparency on.
MDP is renewing its Sunshine Week call for Tudor Dixon to disclose her tax returns, which Governor Whitmer has voluntarily done annually since she was a candidate in 2018. Michigan working families deserve answers on whose interests the wrong-for-Michigan candidates are angling to protect.
MDP spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite issued the following statement:
“Michiganders won’t forget that few candidates have exploited the complete lack of transparency as blatantly as Tudor Dixon, who has made blatantly false attacks and refused to disclose her tax returns or personal financial information. Our working families deserve leaders that will hold themselves to a higher standard.”
As a reminder, Dixon has proven over her campaign that she’ll stoop to any low necessary to mislead Michigan voters. This year, an advisor for her campaign admitted to spreading outright lies about Governor Gretchen Whitmer with attacks the Detroit Free Press had to dismiss as “a massive stretch, at best.”
A Dixon affiliated PAC, Michigan Strong, landed her campaign in more hot water recently as she faced questions over a campaign finance complaint concerning an “illegal donation” to the PAC.
According to the complaint, Michigan Strong accepted a $5,000 contribution from an entity named “Tudor PAC.” Reporting from MIRS detailed that Tudor PAC is “non-existent” with a listed address attributed to a genetic screening company in Grand Rapids.
Dixon advisor Fred Wszolek acknowledged the donation was a violation as it had not been “properly reported.”Only after the complaint was made public did Wszolek say an amendment would be filed “at some point.”
